Judge Hands Out Tough [?] Sentences in Post-Katrina Killing by Police

A federal judge today sentenced two former New Orleans police officers for killing Henry Glover and incinerating his body during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Judge Lance Africk sentenced ex-officer David Warren to 25 years for shooting Glover with an assault rifle, and sentenced former cop Greg McRae to 17 years for torching the man’s corpse as it lay in a car parked on the banks of the Mississippi.  MORE

QUEEN’S COMMENTS ON “TOUGH”

When I read the headlines in Pro-Publica stating that the New Orleans police officers got “tough sentences”, I thought:  “Wow!  They got life sentences.”  But no, as you can see from the details above, one murderer was sentenced to 25 years and the other one 17 years for merely torching the man’s corpse.

This is justice?

Not in the Queen’s books.
