HEY BOSS!  I keep asking you.  If you rip off my bootstraps, how do you expect me to pull myself out of this hole?

This boot strap philosophy of the rich and of those who buy into the Wall Street right-wing ideology is the part that I find the most objectionable about the right-wing and Corporate Centrist Democrats as well.

To be poor in their eyes is, if not a crime, at least an indication that the poor person has done something wrong.  In their world, they believe that any one can “pull themselves up by their bootstraps” and “make it.”

The obscene truth about these people is that they are in the business of cutting the bootstraps off the poor by paying them low wages so they can pay larger dividends to the already rich.  Many of them, like David Koch, for example whose father invented the process for changing petroleum into gasoline, were born with a gold spoon in their mouth.  Furthermore, even those who were not, such as Barack Obama, grew up with a strong family support system that included at least one adult who nurtured their dreams and hopes.  In Obama’s example, he had not one but three such people in addition to having an exceptionally brilliant mind.

The three countries who are the worst about perpetuating myths about the fault of the poor are the USA, England and India.  At least in India, with its caste system, and belief in karma, they have it half right in that it is not the poor person’s “fault”.  However, they still shun the poor as do most Americans and the English.  Oh we have our annual Thanksgiving Dinners–most of which are held the day before the actual holiday so we can be home with our own families on the actual holiday.

How many of the rich bring a poor person to their own table on Thanksgiving day?  Do you know any?

The primary organization who supply the millions of dollars for buses, training speakers, pamphlets, organizing events is an organization called AMERICANS FOR PROSPERITY.  Over the past two years I’ve written numerous articles about this group. The two men who bankroll Americans for Prosperity are David and Charles Koch–the 16th richest men in the world.

“Americans for Prosperity” is anything but a group that supports prosperity for the majority of Americans. For example, when the USA lost their bid in 2009 to bring the next  World Olympics to Chicago, members of this group are on tape for cheering!  Yes cheering–in spite of the fact that winning this bid would have brought thousands of jobs and billions of dollars to the American economy. They are not about prosperity for our nation.  And they are not about Christianity.  They are more about an ideology of hatred that is designed to further the wealth of the top 1% of the richest in our nation.

Ironically, the inherited wealth on which the Koch brothers live was made by their father who made his money in the 20’s and 30’s by helping Joseph Stalin build the oil infrastructure for communist Russia.

Yasha Levine has recently published a devastating article on the Koch brother that appeared in the New York Observer on 7 ways the Kochs make their money that really doesn’t’ jibe with the the ideology that they pour tens of millions into every year.  In other words, the Koch brothers are conservative hypocrites. The Kochs make a fortune through state government welfare — American and Venezuelan — in all kinds of ways.   Instead of being puppets for the Koch brothers, the Tea Party anarchists should work to cut off the Kochs’ access to our money, common wealth and private property, which they in turn use to fund an ideology that makes it harder for normal people to get their own fair share and enjoy on some kind of human, as opposed to billionaire-inhuman, scale.

Here are the four most outrageous activities associated with the Koch brothers include:

1.“In 1998, Koch Industries entered into a lucrative partnership with two state-owned companies-one Venezuelan, the other Italian-to open a massive $1 billion nitrogen-based fertilizer plant in Venezuela called Fertinitro. … For Koch Industries, whose role in the partnership is to unload half of the 6 million tons of fertilizer produced by Fertinitro every year on the American market, that equals up to $123.6 million in subsidies every year.” Get that? A billion-dollar double partnership with two state-owned companies.

2. “Two years before founding the influential Cato Institute, Charles Koch bought a supertanker from a communist regime.”

3. “For the past fifty years, through its Matador Cattle Company subsidiary, Koch Industries has been quietly milking a New Deal program that allows ranchers to use federal land basically for free. Matador … has something in the neighborhood of 300,000 acres of grazing land for its cows—two-thirds of which belong to American taxpayers, who will never see a penny of profit.”

4. “In 2006, Koch Industries acquired pulp and paper giant Georgia-Pacific for a $21-billion cash payment, allowing the Koch brothers to tap into a whole new area of government largess: the ability to log public forests for private gain and have taxpayers cover the operating costs.”

The Newsboys Strike of 1899 was led by the children to force change in the way that Joseph Pulitzer’s and William Randolph Hearst’s   newspapers compensated their child labor force. The Evening World and Evening Journal started charging newsboys 60 cents for a hundred copies of their papers, a hike from 50 cents. Angry, thousands of newsboys went on strike. They held protests all over Manhattan and got into fights with men and boys hired by the papers as replacement workers.  The strike lasted two weeks, causing Pulitzer’s New York World to reduce its circulation from 360,000 to 125,000. The strike was successful and the price was reduced back to the original 50 cents.  But honestly can you imagine the raw greed of wealthy men such as Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst taking advantage of homeless urchins? That was the world of Wall Street then and that is the world of Wall Street today.  Little has changed.

Newspaper boys were the main distributors of newspapers to the general public from the mid-19th to the early 20th century. They were among the poorest classes of society, often seen sleeping on the streets. The newsboys were not employees of the newspapers.  They  purchased the papers from the publishers and sold them as independent agents. They were not allowed to return unsold papers and these children typically earned around less than a dollar a dollar a day even though they often worked until very late at night.

In 1875 a writer of the period wrote, “There are 10,000 children living on the streets of New York….The newsboys constitute an important division of this army of homeless children. You see them everywhere….  They surround you on the sidewalk and almost force you to buy their papers. They are ragged and dirty. Some have no coats, no shoes, and no hat.”  [Source: WIKI].

Freedom and at least a semblance to equality have not been won without hard fights and bloodshed of many who came before us–whether you are talking about right to vote, women’s rights, the rights of people of color, or the rights of workers.  The ruling class have never been known down through history to give up their exclusive privileges  without a big fight.  We have a holiday coming up to commemorate the sacrifices that many brave men and women have made to promote livable wages and safe working environments–Labor Day!

The first Labor Day in the United States was celebrated on September 5, 1882 in New York City. In the aftermath of the deaths of a number of workers at the hands of the U.S. military and U.S. Marshals  during the 1894 Pullman Strike, President Grover Cleveland put reconciliation with Labor as a top political priority. Fearing further conflict, legislation making Labor Day a national holiday was rushed through Congress unanimously and signed into law a mere six days after the end of the strike.

AFL-CIO

The American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) is a voluntary federation of 56 national and international labor unions. The AFL-CIO was created in 1955 by the merger of the AFL and the CIO.

In 2005, SEIU was a founding member of the Change to Win Coalition, which furthered the reformist agenda, criticizing the AFL-CIO for focusing its attention on election politics, instead of taking sufficient action to encourage organizing in the face of decreasing union membership.  In 2005 the SEIU, the Teamsters and the UFCW all disaffiliated from the AFL-CIO.

However, regardless their differences and allowing for the fact that not all unions represent their members as well as they could–all you need to do is take a trip down memory lane to see how awful things would be for workers if they were not joined in the solidarity of a union.

The 17th Annual Executive Excess Study finds that the CEOs who laid off the most employees are also the ones who were paid the highest salaries.

There is little correlation between Wall Street and Main Street–a reality that the majority of our elected officials in Washington appear to be determined to ignore.  Anything for the bottom line.  Anything for making sure that the shareholders are paid the highest quarterly dividends possible.

Please remember that 85% of the American people do not own one dime of Wall Street stock.  Please keep in mind that 85% of us live on Main Street.  Please connect the dots and start voting accordingly.

Not only do Wall Street corporations fire employees right and left, they will shut down entire factories that may even be making a profit and fire all of those employees, sell off all the assets and reinvest that money elsewhere–often not even in this country.  Thus communities–often communities that bent over and touched their toes for these greedy pigs by raising property taxes on the citizen of their own communities so these corporate pigs could enjoy tax-free land–are left holding the bag of high unemployment and property values that fall through the floor.  Gee thanks Chamber of Commerce for your collusion with these crooks.  And we can thank a lot of city council members along with the Chamber of commerce for selling out their communities to Wall Street.  Of course, some states like Texas, with incompetent idiots like Rick Perry driving the bus, do it on a state wide basis.  Gee thanks Rick for robbing the citizens unemployment insurance coffers so you can get campaign funds by buying off Wall Street corporations like Bank of America.

TO SEE THE TOP TEN

The answer is quite simple:  Wall Street and the rich are not at all interested in job creation in the USA because they can make a lot more money by investing in job creation in other countries such as Brazil, India and China where slave labor is available and they don’t have to worry about the ruination of our planet.

It’s a familiar story told again and again all over the world:  Multinational corporations obtain trade agreements with the collusion of our elected officials and the elected officials of other nations and wealthy individuals  via trade agreements such as NAFTA and then they abuse the workers and the environment in the name of their unholy profits.

In Brazil, sugarcane workers are not entitled to eat anything but cornmeal with water.  Their wages are insufficient to buy anything else. Men are often held on these plantations like slaves.

The Ethanol boom may be good for Brazilian and Multinational corporations, but it is devastating for the people.  Sugar cane is grown in large monoculture tracts in Brazil to satisfy a global demand for ethanol. According to human rights workers, this ethanol industry is being built on the backs of Brazilian workers who are ruled over by “gangs” and who live and die like slaves.

AND PLEASE REMEMBER:  THE RICH ARE FEELING NO PAIN

All you need to do is look at the Dow Jones index.  The rich are back in the saddle again.  Their dividends are flowing once more.  They feel no pain.

The rich have recovered because they have robbed the poor and the middle class.

This is EXACTLY what has happened and all with the approval of CONGRESS.

Wall Street and the rich DO NOT get rich by “earning it” or by creating jobs–that’s been the lie we’ve been told since the beginning of the Reagan administration with their LIE OF TRICKLE DOWN ECONOMY:  “It’s ok that the rich pay a smaller percentage of tax on the income they earn than the rest of us do.  It’s ok that corporations get such huge tax breaks. [In 2008 Goldman Sachs paid 1% of their income in taxes AND  yet they got billions of dollars in handouts from US taxpayers AND they fired 1/3 of their workers.]  WHY, ACCORDING TO THE LIE, WAS IT SUPPOSEDLY OK–because these people create jobs.

The rich don’t create jobs or build the US economy–THEY DESTROY IT! You need look no further than the example of Lloyd Blankfein of Goldman Sachs or Henry Kravis and his private equity company.  The rich are literally, with the assistance of Congress, shredding the American economy.

SO UNTIL MORE AMERICANS UNDERSTAND THAT OUR PROBLEMS ARE NOT DUE TO THE PARTY THAT IS LEADING THE NATION AT THE MOMENT–LITTLE WILL CHANGE BUT THE CHANGING OF THE GUARD.

Until we have a Congress that is more economically representative of the majority of the people in our nation, little will change.  Instead of 263 multimillionaires (almost half of all our elected officials in DC) we have one or two (thus representative of the majority of Americans–then you are a fool to think that changing parties will change anything and you will soon be disappointed with the results of the new regime because if you don’t know by now, it will look a lot like the one that came before it.)

Funds for Social Security are not allocated by the national budget. They come directly out of most of our paychecks before we ever see them.   Therefore they have NOTHING whatsoever to do with the National Debt and therefore certainly nothing to do with deficits (annual amounts spent over the revenue taken in each year).

Therefore, these jackasses that President Obama has appointed to be on his “Deficit Commission” are outside the scope of their duties when they are discussing making ANY changes to Social Security as Social Security has NOTHING to do with the national deficit.

BUT PLEASE!  DON’T MAKE THIS A REPUBLICAN OR A DEMOCRAT THING!  THIS IS A RICH THING AND IT HAS LITTLE TO DO WITH PARTY.  The rich are in charge right now and there is little difference between a rich Democrat and a Rich Republican.  Yes there are exception but by and large that is the overwhelming rule that Americans need to understand.

The rich don’t need Social Security at least not today,  but they forget that live in a Democracy where the majority are supposed to rule.  The majority of Americans do rely on Social Security for a huge chunk of their retirement savings.  And it is the needs of the MAJORITY that should take precedence here.

The rich are in control of the Deficit Commission and that is why they have introduced this red herring that has nothing to do whatsoever with the deficit.  NOTHING!  But they have seen the opportunity to trick bag the American people and that is what they are doing.  SHAME ON THEM ALL AND SHAME ON OBAMA FOR APPOINTING THESE RICH THUGS.

WHAT ELSE DOES THIS RED HERRING DO FOR THE RICH?  It prevents the focus on what is important which is job creation.

The majority of the Wall Street rich don’t give a damn about job creation in the USA and that is why instead of focusing on that as a way to reduce the deficit, they focus on entitlement programs such as Social Security that have NOTHING to do with the nation debt or deficits.

Wall Street and the rich are poised, because of their globalization scheme, to invest their money in markets in India, Brazil and China:  NOT THE USA.  They don’t give a damn about creating jobs here because they can still get slave labor elsewhere in the word and thus keep those dividend high paid back to the investors.

THE RICH DO NOT WANT TO RE-ESTABLISH MANUFACTURING JOBS IN THE USA–not until the workers get a lot more desperate than they currently are, not until workers are willing to work under any conditions for any amount of pay.  Not until communities are willing to allow them to pollute with total impunity.The rich have de-stabilized the economy and the security of our nation with their tax cuts for the rich, their trickle-down economy myths and their privatization schemes. AND THEY CONTINUED TO DO SO AND TO TAKE FROM THE MAJORITY.

No finer example than this “Deficit Commission”.  MORE SMOKE AND MIRRORS AND BS FROM THE RICH!

#1   SOCIAL SECURITY IS NONE OF THE BUSINESS OF THE DEFICIT COMMISSION

#2   SOCIAL SECURITY IS NOT BROKEN -  Social Security can continue to fund at 100% for 27 years!  until 2037.  After that, even if nothing is done Social Security can still fund at 75% indefinitely.

#3 SOCIAL SECURITY FUNDING FOR THE FUTURE COULD BE FIXED IN A MATTER OF HOURS AND WOULD BE IF THE MINORITY WERE NOT IN CONTROL OF OUR GOVERNMENT.

Currently, the majority of Americans pay Social Security taxes on 100% of our income, but that is not true for the rich.

Any person who earns over $106,000 a year does not have to pay Social Security taxes on any amount above $106,000.  So the rich only pay on a portion of their income.

Social Security is a system that working like any other insurance program.  Not everyone collects or gets back the premiums that they pay in.  That is a fact of life with any insurance program.  The money is pooled so that it is there for those who may need it.

None of us know what the future holds.  Those who are rich today may not be so tomorrow–just ask Bernie Madoff’s investors or those who worked at lower levels in Enron.  I’ll bet there are more than a few of them who are damn glad for Social Security who may have thought at one time that they would never need it–who had no idea that one day they would become part of the group that Alan Simpson refers to as “the lessors.”

BEGINNING IN 2037 ALL AMERICANS SHOULD BE TAXED FOR SOCIAL SECURITY ON ALL THEIR INCOME.  AND THAT IS A REAL SOLUTION THAT WORKS FOR THE MAJORITY–EVEN IF IT MAY NOT WORK FOR THE UPPER 2%.

The Washington Post reports that in  2006, on his way to the G8 Summit in St. Petersburg, Bush toured Germany’s Baltic Coast. Later in the evening, he was treated to a feast of wild boar with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in the northern town of Trinwillershagen.  Now it seems that the Germans are angry about this.  Imagine the nerve!  Being angry at your leader for spending $8.7 million for a BBQ to honor one of the most outstanding liars and war mongers of the century!

All this reminds me of the summit on world hunger a  few years ago:  Perhaps the WORST display of the bad taste of the rich so far in this decade happened in Japan with the G8 in July 2008  when they met to discuss world hunger. These world leaders who gathered in Japan to discuss food shortages were served an eight-course, 19-dish dinner prepared by 25 chefs. That menu included hairy crab bisque, sea urchin, hot onion tart, kelp-flavored beef and asparagus, milk-fed lamb flavored with herbs and mustard, cheese, lavender honey and caramelized nuts.

It would have been more appropriate if these rich jackasses had dined on half a bowl of rice and a glass of questionable water–or better yet  if they been served no food at all–then perhaps they might be a little more sensitive to the issues of starvation that happen as a daily occurrence all over the world and are directly related to many of the policies they push forth in their nations.

IS THERE REALLY ANY HOPE FOR HUMANITY AS LONG AS INSENSITIVE RICH A-HOLES LIKE THIS ARE IN CONTROL?  TALK ABOUT CLUELESS!  TALK ABOUT INSENSITIVE!  TALK ABOUT OUT OF TOUCH WITH HOW THE MAJORITY IN THE WORLD LIVE!

The G-8, an even more exclusive club of the rich world leaders showed the ultimate in bad taste with an 8 course 19 dish dinner they ate just after discussing how to deal with world hunger.

FIRST AND FOREMOST:  SOCIAL SECURITY IS BEYOND THE SCOPE OF THE “DEFICIT COMMISSION”. The funds for Social Security are not set aside for in our National Budget THUS  they do not have anything WHATSOEVER to do with the deficit!  The rich a-holes on the Commission are overstepping their authority to even discuss Social Security funds as they have NOTHING, I repeat NOTHING WHATSOEVER TO DO WITH THE DEFICIT.  I guess in their own arrogant way they thought that the “lessors” would be too ignorant to realize this.

If you think that being rich has nothing to do with how the majority of Americans are not being represented,then you are NOT paying attention to things like the selection of the jackasses on President Obama’s “Deficit Commission”. If you think that this is not the perfect example of the class war that has been raging in our nation for 30 years then you are not paying attention and you do not want to  see what is before your very eyes.

These are the same rich  conservatives who represent those who have created the problem of the deficit in the first place by their unbridled spending for wars and tax cuts for the rich. One of the people that Obama selected  sits on the board of GE–the largest war contractor in the world.

Now please.  Use your brain.  Are these jackasses going to vote for any measure that might decrease their own personal wealth?  Of course they are not. They will do what they do the best–take from those who can least afford it and insult the poor with their verbal abuses while they are doing it.  The crassest and greediest of them all are in Washington right now and most Americans continue to be led like cattle to slaughter by mainstream media to support horrible crooks who go to Washington to protect their own personal stock portfolios.

First of all we have a lot of problems facing our nation that are a lot more urgent than Social Security.  What about Job Creation?  Social Security is solvent and able to pay 100% for the next 27 years!  until 2037.  After that, even if they did nothing, it would still fund at 75% indefinitely.  WHAT THEY COULD DO TO FIX SOCIAL SECURITY INDEFINITELY AND THEY WOULD IF THEY WERE NOT RICH THEMSELVES:  In 2037, when the 25% shortfall comes into being, pass a law that at that time ALL Americans would be taxed on ALL their income.  Currently only the poor are taxed on all their income for Social Security.  Those who earn over $106,000 a year are not taxed on any amount they earn in excess of $106,000.

Now the rich in power would love nothing better if you make this a Democrat/Republican issue–but you are a fool if you do.  This has NOTHING to do with party leadership and everything to do with wealth and greed.

And don’t think for one minute that Bill Clinton is any different from any stingy rich “conservative” Republican when it comes to robbing the poor to protect the rich.   He proved that when during his presidency he worked with Newt Gingrich to pass his Welfare “reform” bill. First Clinton with the assistance of Rahm Emanuel–the same jackass who is now Obama’s right hand man crammed the unfair trade agreement, NAFTA, down the throats of Congress which has sent over 3 million manufacturing jobs overseas to date.  Then what did Clinton do?  He turned around to jerk the rug out from beneath those who could least afford it–single parents with children who needed those jobs he had shipped overseas where slave labor for the rich could be purchased from the few billionaires who control  poor countries and rob their own people blind–just like the rich do in the USA.

Together with Newt Gingrich–the same nut who cheered on the hatred of Muslims with his inflammatory remarks and hyperbole regarding the location of the Islamic community center–Bill Clinton put a time limit on poverty.  That’s right.  The Welfare reform act allows five years for single parents with dependent children to receive aid.  After that they are kicked to the curb. That is how the rich in the USA treat their poor.  That is their idea of “reform.”   It doesn’t make a damn to them that they have shipped all the jobs overseas.  And what about the children?  The rich don’t give a damn. By and large that is who these people are and party does not have a damn thing to do with it.  And the irony of it is all is that a lot of them actually think they are “generous.”

And the farce of a health care bill–do you know how that treats the poor? That bill was put together by a bunch of rich Wall Street “conservatives” from both parties.  For starters, it turns over 50 million Americans as customers to the very rich Wall Street health insurance crooks who are ripping us off right now.  That’s a “solution” alright–a solution for the rich who own hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of health care insurance stock.

It even further punishes the poor in these ways:  Right now Wal-Mart, a huge employer of the working poor, has the crappiest excuse for health care insurance on the planet.  But prior to the passage of the “health care reform” bill, because the people who work for Wal-Mart are paid such low wages, they could qualify for Medicaid which offers much better coverage.  Now, thanks to a clause stuck in this health care bill for the rich, if  your employer offers health care insurance, regardless how inadequate, you are forced to take it and you do not qualify for medicaid.  So millions of American now can no longer seek decent health care offered through medicaid.

Another of the many caveats in the bill that discriminate against the poor there are also time limits for being poor.  Children cannot be on Medicaid for longer than three years.  After that, they too are kicked to the curb.

SO WHAT CAN AMERICANS DO?  One thing I advise is adding the criteria of wealth to the mix of things when considering a candidate. You do have to consider other issues, of course, but all things being fairly equal and you have a choice between someone who is a millionaire and someone who earns under $100,000 a year.  I would vote for the one who is closer to Main Street.

Currently our Congress has 263 multimillionaires–almost 50% of our Congress.  This is not representative of the population of the USA.  Instead of 50%, the ratio, to be more reflective of our nation would be 1 or 2%.

WASHINGTON IS SKEWED FOR THE RICH AND PARTY HAS LITTLE TO DO WITH IT.

You need to remember that if you earn less than $166,000 a year you are not being represented in Washington.  You need to start encouraging your neighbors to run for office in 2012.  You need to remember in 2012 that if you vote in the primary that you won’t be eligible to sign petitions for ballot of  Independent candidates who will later come to your door.  So if you REALLY don’t like what is happening in DC, then I advise Americans in 2012  to not vote in the primary and wait to support the ballot petitions of Independents .

We don’t even have our elected officials making important decisions for us.  Instead we have Republican crooks, hand-selected by Obama.

These tasks should be the responsibility of Congress, not some hand-picked bunch of senile Republican foul mouthed thugs.

All these “problems” could be solved in about an hour if Congress would pass a bill requiring ALL Americans to pay Social Security on ALL of their income.  Currently Americans do not pay any Social Security tax on income earned above $106,000 in any given year.  While 85% of Americans pay Social Security on 100% of our incomes, the rich only pay Social Security taxes on a portion of their income.  This would not be “raising” taxes, it would be equalizing taxes.  It is not the amount, it is the percentage and the percentage is supposed to be based on a sliding scale folks.  But when the rich and greedy are in control the majority are lost.  It might be a good rule of thumb in the future to vote for the candidate who has the least amount of money–as long as it is not over 500,000.  Once you get to that point, it seems like all people act the same.

In all of the people in Congress we do not have a single person whose income is representative of the MAJORITY of Americans.  We do not have representation.  The rich are represented.  The majority are not.

It should come as no surprise to us the solution from yet another bunch of multimillionaires is to cut social security by 20%.  That will be the end result—even though Social Security is solvent for the next 25 years and will pay out 100% AND even if these crooks do nothing, after 25 years in 2037 it will still pay out at 75% indefinitely.

And what does a 20% cut mean?  It means that a person receiving a $1,200 check would now get $220 a month less.  Then knock off another $120 for medicare and they would have a whooping $860 a month.  Now if there is medicine on top of that. . .oh wait a minute utilities, home insurance, gasoline, food, –well there is the cat. . .

OBAMA HAS CHOSEN GREEDY RICH REPUBLICAN  SENILE CROOKS TO MAKE A DECISION FOR US THAT DOES NOT EVEN NEED TO BE MADE FOR 25 YEARS!  WHY NOT WORK ON SOLVE SOME REAL PROBLEMS LIKE UNEMPLOYMENT?  When Obama ran for office did he forget to mention that he is a Republican?
