More of Rick Perry’s gifts to the people of Texas–Chicken Poop in our waters.

Photobucket

Even a Chicken knows more than Rick Perry–They don’t even like to step in it, much less use it as a flavor for their drinking water.

Hundreds of our streams, rivers and lakes are too polluted for swimming and fishing — and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has implemented new rules that would make them worse.
The rules would allow even more health-threatening bacteria into waterways where people aren’t likely to ingest the water. That means if people like to wade, but not swim, in a creek, it can stay polluted.

To show the TCEQ that Texans want clean water, we need you to voice your opposition to these rules. Can we add your name to our petition to the TCEQ?

There’s a lot at stake.
In 2007, the chicken company Pilgrim’s Pride discharged more than 1.5 million pounds of toxic pollution from its Mt. Pleasant processing facility into Tankersley Creek. The creek feeds into the Lake O’ the Pines, a popular swimming spot in northeast Texas that saw several beach closures this summer due to high bacteria levels.

We need to show the state we demand clean water. Click the link below to sign a petition protesting the new rules.

Republican hypocrites are for tort reform–as long as they can still have their own frivolous law suits

The Texas attorney general sued the Obama administration Wednesday over its new deep-water offshore drilling moratorium, claiming it is unjustified and federal officials did not contact the state before issuing the ban.

Attorney General Greg Abbott filed the 18-page suit in federal court in Houston against Department of the Interior Secretary Ken Salazar. The ban halted the approval of any new permits for deep-water projects and shut down drilling at 33 exploratory ocean wells in the wake of the BP spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

HOW MANY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS DO  YOU THINK THESE ANTICS FROM RICK PERRY’S REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION WILL COST THE TAXPAYERS?

Yet these same jackasses would be at the front of the line claiming that tort reform was the second best thing to holy water from Lourdes to cure what ails us.

One of the biggest expenses that our nation is facing today is the continued Republican obstructionism and their lawsuit-happy mentality.  Of course THEY are not the ones paying for these frivolous law suits!  It is  you and me–Mr. and Mrs. Taxpayer who are footing the bill for the Republican grandstanding.

In Rick Perry’s Texas, no sacrifice is too great to make for Wall Street.

In Rick Perry’s Texas, no sacrifice is too great for a job–and that includes giving up the air you breathe.

Perry’s commission over the years has granted over 140 pollution permits to large petrochemical companies and other large industries in an attempt to skirt the Clean Air Act.  That is why we have an orange alert OZONE alert several times a month in Texas.

If you like the color orange and don’t give a damn about your health, then vote for Rick Perry

If you don’t like warnings like the one below then don’t vote for Rick Perry in November as Perry is largely responsible for air pollution in Texas.

AIR POLLUTION WARNING – LEVEL ORANGE
OZONE is UNHEALTHY FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS in the Dallas-Ft. Worth Area Monday, July 26, 2010, 15:15 CDT

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has issued a LEVEL ORANGE warning for the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. Ozone air pollution levels are rated as UNHEALTHY FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS based on measurements at the following monitoring site(s)…

*******************************************************

For the past decade that Perry has been governor, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, composed entirely of Perry appointees, has turned the very name of the agency into an oxymoron. Instead of protecting the quality of our environment, it has put polluters ahead of the public.

PLEASE CONNECT THE DOTS BETWEEN PERRY AND AIR POLLUTION
Do you think that perhaps there is a connection between our orange days in Texas and the fact that  Perry’s commission over the years has granted over 140 pollution permits to large petrochemical companies and other large industries in an attempt to skirt the Clean Air Act?   Now the EPA is finally doing its job.

ENOUGH ALREADY!  IT’S TIME TO SEND THAT HILLBILLY BACK TO PAINT CREEK WHERE HE CAME FROM BEFORE HE AND HIS GOOD OLE BOYS* TURN OUR STATE INTO A CESSPOOL.  They’ve already got a good start on it.

FOR MORE ON THIS TOPIC VISIT THE COLLIN COUNTY OBSERVER

*One of Perry’s good ole boys is billionaire Harold Simmons who over the years has contributed over $600,000 to Perry. Not only has Mr. Simmons’s company, Waste Control Specialists, landed a lucrative contract to take the Hudson River sludge to Texas, but this spring it won a permit from the state to store low-level radioactive waste as well.

Bill White’s campaign suggests that we pay Governor “Robbing the’Hood” on an hourly basis

The Bill White campaign requested Governor Perry’s official work calendar for the year and found that Perry performed no scheduled state work on 24 of the 72 business days.  That averages out to one third of the work week without phone calls or meetings.  The calendar covered January, March, April and most of May.

For a better perspective, I think they should have added the approximate 32 days of the weekend.  Then we can see that out of a total of 104 possible work days (as many of us ordinary folk also work on the weekend), Perry did not work for 56 days.  That puts his slack off much closer to a rate of 50% instead of 33%.  I think the Bill White campaign was being generous with Perry.

ADDITIONAL EMMA COMMENTS

I suppose we should not be so surprised when we consider that George Bush was Perry’s mentor.  During his presidency Bush made 149 visits to the presidential retreat at Camp David where he spent a total of 487 days  and Camp David was not even where the president spend the most of his time when not at the White House.  Bush made 77 visits to his “ranch” in Crawford during his presidency and spent all or part of 490 days there.

977 vacation days in 8 years.  That comes out to be 122 vacation days a year.  The average American is lucky to get 7 days.

Yeah, Rick Perry is a real, “hard-working” man of the people.  Uh huh.

He learned everything he knows from George Bush–and that’s the problem right there.

Some states have Robin Hood for a Governor. In Texas, our governor is robbing the ‘hood.

Photobucket

There was Robin Hood who robbed from the rich and gave to the poor and then there is Rick Perry who is robbing the ‘hood with his “Texas Enterprise Fund.”

I wonder how many constituents in the THIRD CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT OF TEXAS know what Rick Perry is doing with the money that is withheld from their checks for unemployment taxes? To date, Rick Perry has, with the permission of the Texas legislature (another whole can of worms), turned  Texas taxpayers  hard earned tax dollars over to multibillion dollar Wall Street corporations like Bank of America.

Perry couches his give-away of taxpayer dollars to corporations in the name of “job creation.” Why should taxpayers money be used to bribe multibillion dollar corporations to promise to create jobs?   When is the last time that anyone paid you on your promise to do work? Most of us get paid after the work is done or in increments as the work progresses and only provided that we deliver satisfactorily.

The “Texas Enterprise Fund” is just another fine example of a avowed “conservative’s” give away of taxpayer dollars to support corporate welfare for the rich.  This is neither a conservative nor a prudent stewardship of the tax monies of ordinary hard-working citizens.

The State unemployment fund has transferred $161.5 million to Perry’s job fund scheme since the conservative folks in the Texas legislature gave him permission to do so. The state unemployment fund (Texas’ Unemployment Compensation Trust Fund) is running out of money to pay benefits to all the state’s laid-off workers, including those laid off by corporations subsidized by the Texas Enterprise Fund.

THINK ABOUT IT FOR A MINUTE TEXANS: Money has been taken out of your weekly/monthly paychecks to pay for your unemployment in case you lose your job and has instead been funneled to rich multibillion dollar corporations who need it worse than you do.

Are Texans going to be stupid enough to vote for this lying hypocrite for the third time? I hope not.

I know that I won’t be among them. There is NOTHING more disgusting than someone like Rick Perry who pretends to be “for the people” to our faces while his hand is taking our last dime out of our back pockets.  Sarah Palin is another fine example of a lying hypocrite.  She didn’t even care enough to serve out one term as governor–not after she realized she could get $100,000 for 15 minutes of her mindless blabber.  These people are worse than the Wall Street Democratic Centrists–at least the Democratic Centrists don’t pretend to be “just one of the folks.”

LET’S START VOTING SOME REAL AMERICANS INTO OFFICE–THOSE OF US WHO GET OUR PAYCHECKS ONCE A WEEK INSTEAD OF ONCE EVERY QUARTER.

EPA IS STEPPING IN AS OF TUESDAY AND FORCING RICK PERRY TO COMPLY WITH THE CLEAN AIR ACT

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said Tuesday that it is taking over the issuance of an operating permits for a Corpus Christi refinery and could step in at 39 other major facilities in the states.  The state is not following federal Clean Air Act requirements. And don’t citizens all over Texas realize that–even here in the Dallas metroplex.

Rick Perry will no doubt whine about the transfer of power away from the states. Let him whine!  It’s obvious that Perry who lives like a Beverly hillbilly in a rented mansion paid for by the Texas taxpayer knows or cares little that he is making our state into an environmental cesspool.

Bill White has Perry’s number. White said that it is exactly because of Rick Perry’s mismanagement of the state’s environmental agency that we are losing the ability to make our own decisions about air quality.  Bill White reminds us that Hillbilly Rick and the state of Texas have been repeatedly warned since 2007 that its permitting program violated the law that granted Texas the authority to issue air pollution permits.

Do you believe it! Rick Perry compared himself to Hurricane Katrina victims because he is “forced” to live in this sprawling mansion!

I hope that the voters of the state of Texas send Rick Perry back to Paint Creek Texas where he belongs.  Believe me, I grew up in the area and Perry will be hard-pressed to find the likes of this kind of luxury in Haskell County Texas.

If Perry and Harold Simmons get their way, Texas will be the nuclear dump site for the USA

Texans for Public Justice published NUCLEAR COMPACT WITH THE DEVIL? about  three weeks ago.  It’s an interesting read if you have time.

Congress, not wanting to deal with the political football of nuclear waste baby-sitting, gave the tasks to the states to form multi-state compacts.  In 1993, Texas formed a compact with Vermont to dump radioactive waste from both states in Texas.  In early 2009 the Texas Low Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Compact Commission began overseeing this mess with two commissioners appointed by Vermont and six by Perry.

Harold Simmons, the 176th richest man in the world ($4.5 billion) has a monopoly on the business of nuclear dumps through a company called Waste Control Specialists.  Harold Simmons has also plowed $620,000 into Rick Perry’s coffers since 2001.  Waste Control has pushed the Perry administration to expand the waste stream that it can pour into radioactive dumps in Andrews County hear the Texas-Mexico border.  Material that the company wants to dump there near three important aquifers will be hot for tens of thousands of years.

There is no question that the answer given by these commissioners should be no.  It is absolute irresponsible for this material to be dumped so near to three important aquifers.

However, it remains to be seen what they will do.     Considering that the six appointees are Rick Perry Appointees, it is unlikely that they will say no to a man who has given $600,000 to Perry’s campaign.  Other Perry appointees have also failed to stand up to Simmons.

DISGUSTING.  I hope that Texans remember the extent to which Rick Perry is ruining our environment and endangering the lives of Texans when they go to the polls in November. Rick Perry is no different from most any other incumbent–bought and sold–by Wall Street pigs.
