THE VIEW FROM GROUND ZERO

As the map below indicates you cannot even see the proposed Islamic center from Ground Zero.  The Masjid Mosque shown four blocks away ifrom Ground Zero has held daily prayers in the downtown area for 30 years.

The Washington Post features a virtual tour of the area.

Before joining the hysterical parade behind some chicken little, it might reduce the length of the parade if more Americans would ask just a few intelligent questions first.

For example:  Where EXACTLY is the Mosque located?   “Mr. Gingrich, is the proposed Islamic Center REALLY  “next to” ground zero as your word choice implies, or is it really two blocks away and positioned where it cannot even be seen from ANY space within ground Zero?”

Maybe it would help if the Chicken Little’s themselves such as Mr. Gingrich, would do a little soul searching first in regard to their real motivations for sponsoring such a hysterical rant.  In Mr. Gingrich’s case, I would wager that he was trying to garner attention for a 2012 presidential bid.  If that is the case, then he did himself serious damage–unless the ENTIRE Republican Party has gone TOTALLY nuts.

As for Sarah Palin and the fuel she heaped on the fire of hatred, we need look no further than her bank account to know why she did it. She is no public servant.  She is just another side-show Bob who couldn’t even serve out her commitment to the people of Alaska by serving out one term as governor.

And you know what?  I hope that mainstream media learns a lesson from this too and stops taking their cues for what is important news from Fox News.  I hope that instead of watching the “debates” about the location of the Mosque on MSNBC programs of Hardball, and The Ed Show that we see instead merely their own analysis–short and simple. “Here is a map.  Here are the facts. This is a local issue.   Let the people of NYC decide. This should not be some political football–especially implemented by a political party whose representatives won’t even help fund medical assistance for first responders to 9/11 who are now dying with lung diseases. ”

Need to create a false impression? No problem. Use PhotoShop.

It’s not just with words that the media distort information that we get, it is also images.  With PhotoShop they can restructure reality.  In the 21st century when we view an image [particularly those that elicit a strong emotional response]  from the media we should always ask:  “I wonder what has been removed with PhotoShop?”  Whether we are Democrat, Republican or Independent as I am.

Barack Obama, BP and the NYT

Jul 7th 2010, 13:57 by The Economist online

The New York Times has a story pointing out that an image of Barack Obama that The Economist ran on the cover a few weeks ago edited Charlotte Randolph, a local parish president, out of the picture (see above):   [I’ll bet Ms. Randolph never figured to become a topic of international discussion.]

It was the ideal metaphor for a politically troubled president. [Emma comment:  The Economist is a business magazine.  They need to leave the metaphors up to the fiction writers.]

There was President Obama on the cover of the June 19 issue of The Economist, standing alone on a Louisiana beach, head down, looking forlornly at the ground.

The problem was, he was not actually alone. The photograph was just edited to make it look that way.

Here is another piece of the handiwork from THE ECONOMIST

If you had any doubt that THE ECONOMIST is deliberately trying to portray Obama as “alone” in addressing the BP spill, this second example of their PhotoShopping should erase that illusion.  That is their basic political message:  No one is supporting Obama.

It is frightening to think how our impressions are molded by the media—often without our even being aware of it.

Speaking of corporate pimps, Stephanopoulos is pimping O’Keefe, one of Wall Street’s whores

In regard to Stephanopoulos, all that is necessary is to to remember that he is the same corporate media buffoon who led the “riveting” debate along with Charles Gibson on the virtues of flag pins with Obama and Hillary. You might also remember that ABC is owned by Disney studios and you can hardly get more right-wing than those pornographers.

ABC’s Good Morning America got an “exclusive” with ACORN video hoaxters James O’Keefe and Andrew Breitbart on June 1.Here’s how host George Stephanopoulos set up the segment:

James O’Keefe became a media sensation after he and a friend posed as a pimp and prostitute and secretly recoded ACORN workers giving them advice on how to cheat on their taxes.

As FAIR noted in an action alert to the New York Times, O’Keefe didn’t “pose” as a pimp–he didn’t wear his absurd “pimp” get-up when he went in to ACORN offices, and in almost every case he presented himself as a concerned boyfriend trying to get his girlfriend away from an abusive pimp. And he didn’t get any advice on how to “cheat” on his taxes.

What O’Keefe claimed happened during his visits to ACORN was not what actually happened–for instance, he videotaped himself wearing his garish “pimp” costume outside of ACORN offices in order to feed those misimpressions. But he never wore the get-up inside the ACORN facilities he targeted.

Stephanopoulos later alluded to ”critics” who argue that O’Keefe “revised reality for political gain.” The ABC host, on the other hand, said: “I have to give you credit for this, on ACORN, you did expose people doing things they shouldn’t do.”

Don’t ask a Tea Party person, including Sarah Palin or Glen Beck for any specifics beyond their bumper sticker mentality. These people are an embarrassment to our nation. Those who follow them are dupes of the wealthy.

This is what people look like and sound like who have been fed bumper stickers of the rich from sources like Fox News and the Koch Brothers.

They are unable to provide one ounce of substance to their ridiculous claims.

ANOTHER PSYCHOTIC BREAKTHROUGH FROM GLENN BECK

Photobucket

WHAT NEXT, GLENN?  IF PEOPLE WERE TO FOLLOW YOUR INSANE ADVICE, NO ONE WOULD GO TO CHURCH ANY MORE. – I googled “Jesus on Social Justice” and my search yielded 2,050,000 pages.  LOL  If you search on “God and Social Justice”  you will get 8,180,000 pages.

Unbelievable!  This man gets nuttier by the minute.   Now he is telling people to leave their churches if their churches preach social justice.  LOL

“I beg you, look for the words ’social justice’ or ‘economic justice’ on your church Web site. If you find it, run as fast as you can. Social justice and economic justice, they are code words. Now, am I advising people to leave their church? Yes!”

Mr. Beck may need to have the dosage of his medication adjusted.
